A Saturday Morning at d’ Good Café Holland Village

Woke up around 8.32am, got myself ready and off I go to the much talked about d’ Good Café located at Holland Village. We arrived at the cafe around 10.40am via MRT. As it’s website describe, d’ Good Café is only 1 minute walk from the MRT’s exit B. Head right once you come up from the MRT passing Standard Chartered Bank and a small convenience  store, you will see a signage which directs you to 2nd floor where the cafe is located. Worry not, it is one of the easiest cafe to hunt!

Environment

Walking up the stairs, one could feel the cafe’s cosy atmosphere. They occupy the 2nd and 3rd floor. Having The Bar and The Lawn area in 2nd floor, The Attic and The Balcony area are located at the 3rd floor. Overall, we love the environment. We quickly settle down on a sofa seat after our own tour of the cafe.

Simple painting. Took this while waiting to use the restroom. The restroom is clean, but there is only one. Expect to wait a bit during peak.

Ordering

It’s the Starbucks style food ordering, you proceed to the counter located at the 2nd, browse the simple menu, then place your order. You wait for your drink after ordering, they will provide you with a “buzzer” and you’ll have to come back to grab your food. That’s probably the reason there is no 7% GST or 10% service charge in my bill.

We decided to take the 2nd floor seat instead of the 3rd floor because we are not confident if we can bring our food from 2nd floor to 3rd floor safety. Although it is a self service restaurant, we do see the waitress delivering some senior citizens’ order. It is really polite of them. Plus points for d’ Good Café.

Food

Since it was not so crowded when we arrived, the food took around 10 minutes to be ready.

Drinks – Hot Chocolate & Hot Mocha, Latte-Art included.

Food – Scrambled Egg N Toast & Poached Eggs with Mushroom.

We shall let the photos below do the talking.

My mocha sipped. Not the best latte-art but crema of the coffee is good.

They all taste well. If you like it sweet, you can pour those honey syrup onto the toast, love it! We are also happy with the portion provided, serves just right as our brunch.

Before going to d’ Good Café we did a bit of research over the internet, listing them as follow in case you may find it useful too:

The green tea latte was the one that I immediately fell in love with. It’s nice to have a tinge of tea bitterness lingering around as I sip the silky smooth latte.

I liked the Bacon Carbonara ($15) more than the previous pasta. It’s creamy (more on the milky side) and certainly more satisfying (only if you like cream). Generous portions of bacon too. It would be perfect with some fried bacon bit and an egg.

We tried their famous Maple sea-salt cheesecake and it didn’t disappoint. It’s their signature dish baked by the cafe’s owner each morning, and is usually sold out by noon (!). The cheesecake was fluffy soft and moist, with a mild flavour. What stood out was the tracings of maple syrup, offset with the sharp saltiness of the sea salt. It was pretty delicious :)

Final Thoughts

We spend around 1.5hrs in the cafe chilling. We will definitely come back for it’s environment and friendly waitresses during weekends.

While exploring Holland Village we met this lovely Golden Retriever
