FlyScoot: Singapore Bangkok ScootBiz Flight Experience
We decided to hop on a last minute trip from Singapore to Bangkok for a weekend. Being hooked by FlyScoot’s Dreamliner ScootBiz features and seeing that there is only a fraction of difference in price between Economy and ScootBiz on the Friday flight which we wanted to book, we opted for ScootBiz. There was also a 20% off promotion with JCB Card during that time of booking. Earlier, I have written a tip on if Scoot’s 20% promotion code is worth it. Arriving around 1600hrs at Singapore Changi Terminal 2 feeling really excited, we went to FlyScoot’s check-in counter to realise that check-in counter for ScootBiz was closed and there is already a long queue for Economy check-in. We approached a ground staff and got ourselves check-in within a few minutes. No biggie other than the ground staff did not feel particularly happy to be approached by us. We checked in at one of the Economy counters, the ScootBiz counter continued to be closed when we left the counter.
Our fight TZ 302, Singapore to Bangkok (DMK) bound. It departed on time. FlyScoot’s on time performance hovers between 80%-85%. Immigration and security check at Singapore Changi Airport went smoothly. A good look of FlyScoot’s Boeing Dreamliner before we board. This is my very first Dreamliner experience.
I was travelling light, just have one backpack with me, just an old but reliable backpack. You could purchase a newer version one at Amazon – Kelty Redwing 50 Backpack.
FlyScoot’s Scoot Biz
Here’s what ScootBiz has to offer:
- 30kg check-in baggage allowance
- 2 pieces (up to 15kg) of cabin baggage

- Get a welcome drink and one additional alcoholic beverage
- Stream movies and TV shows to your devices with ScooTV
- Eat up with our widest selection of meals.
- In-seat power
- Arrive first and be first in line with priority disembarkation.
We see this as a Premium Economy class on a full service airline, therefore we did not have expectation such as being on a Singapore Airline Business Class.
As soon as we boarded the plane, we were directed to our seat, we booked 1D, 1E and 1F. Moments later, the Flight Attendant returned and gave us our welcome drink – a small pack of drinking water. She also explained that we are entitled to have a beverage of our choice from soda to an alcoholic drink.
ScootBiz TZ302 and TZ301 Hardware
We took the same hardware – Boeing Dreamliner 787-9 for TZ302 SIN-DMK and TZ301 DMK-SIN.
The seats are rather spacious, as Scoot mentions in their website:
ScootBiz – Full leather seats with at least 38” (96cm) of legroom, 22” (56cm) of width, 8” (20cm) of recline and fully adjustable headrests and legrests.
It is a 38 inch seat pitch where most Premium Economy don’t even offer that, we are happy with this. ScootBiz also offer 8 inches of recline for all their seats and double the legroom.

In-Flight WiFi
Our flights have WiFi onboard. We did not use it it though, we thought that US$21.95 for 24 hours is pretty decent. We will definitely not recommend the Social Lite 20MB package for US$5. It is good to see the Scoot is offering WiFi in multiple packages.
In-Flight Entertainment System
Since ScootBiz includes in-flight entertainment system, we were given an Access Code to key in instead of our credit card details on the entertainment portal’s welcome page. We tried logging in our iPhone and iPad, they both worked.
ScootBiz Premium Meal – SIN-DMK TZ302
We pre-ordered ScootBiz Premium Meal during our booking. I chose to have the Singapore Signature Chicken Rice. The meal consists of Chicken Rice, salad, a small pack of drinking water, an 330ml Evian Mineral Water and a Haagen Dazs ice cream.
Overall, I think the chicken rice was alright, I prefer it with chilli. The salad did not taste that great, the corn was really hard. My favourite was Haagen Dazs Chocolate flavoured ice cream.
In-Flight Magazine
One particular story of Scoot’s Magazine caught my attention – Singapore’s coffee evolution. There is also a list of recommended local coffee shops which coffee lovers should not miss! You can read the July Scoot Magazine.
ScootBiz Washroom
I thought the washroom on our flight was well maintained. It is simple and nothing fancy, does the job!
Arrival at DMK
With the Arrive First feature, we completed the immigration process within 10 minutes. DMK could be really busy sometimes, we consider ourselves lucky.
Wanted to leave a side note here: If you are planning to exchange some Thai Baht, the DMK airport offered decent rates.
FlyScoot Bid 4 Biz
A few days before our departure, we received an email inviting us to bid for a ScootBiz upgrade. We were in Economy on our way home as it was cheaper. Since we have bought some Essential Oils that are over 100ml, we thought it will be a good idea to bid for this and it is actually quite fun.
We put in the lowest bid possible, SGD$70.00 and waited. 24 hours before our departure time, our credit card was charged by Scoot, that was when we knew that our bid was successful.

SIN-DMK TZ301
DMK airport was pretty pack during our departure day. We were happy that we had priority boarding. Everything went smoothly.
We took some extra photos of the cabin, figure it will be nice to see more of it.
ScootBiz Meal – SIN-DMK TZ302
Since our tickets were confirmed 24 hours before departure, we don’t get to select the Premium Meal selection. We opted for Braised Chicken Rice instead. The meal consists of a braised chicken rice, a pack of coconut water and a Kit Kat.
Bottom Line
We thought the flight for both legs were good. Here’s what we think:
- ScootBiz is totally worth it if you have luggage and if it is only a little bit more than the Economy ticket.
- Leather seat is spacious and comfortable
- Dedicated power socket is definitely good to have
- Food is just alright, not fantastic, but hey, its a budget airline that serves meal
- Flight attendants were attentive and polite throughout our flights
We will surely fly with Scoot again in future and potentially ScootBiz if we would like to treat ourselves a little nicer!
