Located at Fusionopolis together with a handful of other Korean restaurants, Daehwa is a great choice during lunch time for those looking for a vegetarian and vegan option. It is particularly attractive to Vegetarians who does not consume the Five Alliums – garlic, onion, scallion, leek and shallot because this Korean restaurant does not serve them.
We have been craving Korean vegetarian food for a long time and were excited to have discover this restaurant.
We were greeted by the restaurant upon our arrival, upon checking our temperature and checking in via the Trace Together App, we were allowed to pick any table we like, it wasn’t not crowded at 11.20am. We made a reservation online before hand and we can totally see why after tasting their delicious offerings.
Our Meal
We wanted something that will fill us up but not too much so that we could have something else after this. After looking through the menu, we decided to order an Army Stew, vegetable dumpling and a vegetable pancake. Plain water is chargeable at 50 cents each with the choice of warm or iced.
The Army Stew
This comforting spicy stew is definitely one of the most popular hot pot dishes in Korea. It has a balanced mix of spiciness, saltiness and slight sweetness. A perfect dish to get all warm and cozy with. Hang around the stew, eating bits and pieces, drinking and chatting.
There is a bigger portion meant for sharing, we ordered the small option to share. Inside the piping pot you’ll find enoki mushroom, cabbage, mocked meat, rice cake and the delicious Korean instant noodle. The broth was right on point for us, not too think and not too plain, we ended up drinking all of it.
Yachae Mandu
Hand-made dumplings, chock full of the healthful nutrients coming from the vegetables and mushrooms.
These dumplings were big and served hot! Dip it in the sauce provided and you’re good to go! It is simply delicious with moist vegetables stuffed inside.
Yachae Jeon
Crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside. A very delicious Korean vegetable pancake made with a variety of vitamins packed vegetables which makes it so good
Generous portion for 2 person. It did live up with its description of being crispy outside and chewy inside. Again, food was served hot. I particularly enjoyed dipping it into the sweet sauce served with the pancake.
