Din Tai Fung Singapore Dinner

Vegetarian Dinner at Din Tai Fung Yam Xiao Long Bao Stole the Show

A surprisingly satisfying vegetarian dinner at Din Tai Fung Singapore featuring vegetable xiao long bao, consistently excellent dou miao, unlimited tea refills, and the standout yam xiao long bao that stole the entire meal.

If you think Din Tai Fung is just for meat eaters, think again. I recently had dinner at their Singapore outlet and it reminded me why this place has been a staple for us over a decade.

Yam Xiao Long Bao — The Champion Dish

This was easily the most anticipated dish of the meal, and it completely lived up to expectations.

Yam Xiao Long Bao

Served at the end of dinner almost like a dessert course, the yam xiao long bao felt comforting, delicate, and surprisingly elegant. The filling was smooth and creamy with natural yam sweetness that wasn’t overpowering or artificial.

Wrapped inside Din Tai Fung’s signature thin dumpling skin, it somehow managed to feel both light and indulgent at the same time.

If you enjoy yam desserts, this is a must-order. Kids love it too!

Mixed Green & Mushroom Xiao Long Bao

This was our first time trying the vegetarian xiao long bao, and honestly, we would order it again.

The dumplings still carried that familiar Din Tai Fung experience delicate skin and comforting fillings just with a lighter mushroom and vegetable flavour profile instead of the usual pork richness.

The mushroom filling gave it a nice earthy flavour without feeling too heavy, making it easy to finish an entire basket.

Egg Fried Rice

Din Tai Fung’s fried rice remains one of their signature comfort dishes, with nicely separated grains and plenty of wok fragrance.

That said, this particular plate leaned slightly oilier than we personally prefer. It was still enjoyable and flavourful, but after having some excellent fried rice elsewhere recently, this one felt a little heavier than expected. Still a solid sharing dish for the table.

Dou Miao (Pea Sprouts)

One thing that hasn’t changed over the years is how consistently good the dou miao has been.

We’ve probably been ordering this dish for close to 10 years now, and it still delivers the same fresh crunch and flavour every time. Simple dishes are often the hardest to maintain consistently, which makes this even more impressive.

Unlimited Tea Refills Always Make the Meal Better

One small thing we always appreciate at Din Tai Fung is the unlimited tea refill.

Something about slowly sipping hot jasmine tea between dumplings and fried rice just makes the whole dining experience feel more relaxing and complete. It’s a simple touch, but one we genuinely enjoy every visit.

Overall Thoughts

Din Tai Fung Singapore Dinner

The vegetable xiao long bao was surprisingly enjoyable, the dou miao remained as reliable as ever, and the yam xiao long bao easily became the standout dish of the night.

The fried rice was slightly oilier than our preference, but overall, it was still a satisfying and comforting dinner experience.

This is a local and tourist favorite restaurant located at various places island wide Singapore.
