During this pandemic, we learn to appreciate and support others whenever we can and value each other. Last Saturday, we visited Kovan Block 209 Hawker Centre, it is located behind Heartland Mall and just a few minutes walk from Kovan MRT station.
We knew there were vegetarian options there but weren’t sure where exactly they were located.

Entering Hawker Centre
This hawker is connected to a wet market, a social ambassador was standing at the hawker’s entrance to ensure that visitors check in using TraceTogether App or token before entering the hawker centre. We arrived around 11am, the crowd was forming. We will arrive 10 minutes earlier next visit.
Our Food
Most stores were not crowded. We found 2 vegetarian stalls selling economy rice noodle or bihun. It is located at the middle row. A Chinese dessert stall which sells cendol and ice kacang was nearby too.
Economy Rice Noodle
We bought food from the stall with a longer queue assuming that food would be fresher due to higher turnaround. It tasted alright, we will return to them again. We consider to visit the other vegetarian stall too to support local hawker.
Cendol & Ice Kacang
It is hard for us to resist some shaved iced dessert when it is just opposite the rice noodle stall. The auntie being really friendly with a smile attracted us too. We got ourselves a cendol and ice kacang for $4.
Fried Dough
Then we bumped into a fried dough stall. It is labelled as vegetarian. Without hesitation, we approached the uncle and see what his stall has to offer. Unfortunately, you tiao were out and the waiting time was 1 hour since they make them by hand. We got a red bean bun and two salted bun.
We love fresh dough. It tasted pretty good. We will most likely return to try their you tiao.
Closing Thought 💭
It felt good to support our local hawker stall. Overall the food was good 👍 . If you’re planning to visit Kovan 209 Hawker Centre, please bring along cash 💵. Most stalls takes only cash.
